Are Thames Valley part of the scheme where they keep a share of the profits from speed cameras?
If so then the camera vans must be marked - I'd expect it to say police somewhere...
You never know it could be tax disc camera or some sort of survey

Sneaky Thames Valley Police got me the other day. Was travelling down a dual carriageway in Maidenhead, doing 53 in a 40 (the road should be at least a 50 in my opinion!), when i noticed a small van parked at the side of the road. Did not have "police" anywwhere on the van, but did have some of the markings.
As I got closer I could see that it was blacked out inside, but through a parially opened back window, I could see inside a camera!
Just got the speeding fine through this weekend. I suppose I can't do anthing about their sneaky method of trapping people can I ?
(yes - I know I should have been only doing 40mph, but on such a fast road you just don't realise sometimes)
