if a car was registered new on 21.05.99 when is it due an MOT?

dohh!

so if i want to tax it (which is now due!) i need to get it MOT'd i assume?

never had an MOT before- is it a fixed price?

Err...YES. Have you had it since new???

If so, why didnt the garage you got it from ring and tell you??

Sounds like you have had no insurance for the last 3 months because of it!

The fixed price is £39. But some garages will do a cheaper deal (and then charge more for repairs, whether or not they were required). Some let you take the car back after you have fixed any probs up to 2 weeks later, but IIRC they can actually charge full fee for re-inspection, even if only one thing needs looking at e.g. light bulb.

Check all obvious things e.g. bulbs, horn, wipers etc. first to avoid a fail and re-test.

so the blade is part of it but the arm isnt?????

what if i just remove the arm altogether? if its not there it cant be failed on it?

According to Ministry manual, rear wiper not part of test, garage should not have failed the car for this - does happen though. Probably wanted the sale

If de-catted may also be a problem passing mot.
