Told the other day that the toll on the new Brum relief road was going to be £3 to use no matter how far you travelled on it.
Do you think these roads are the answer to Britains congestion. I dont.
I reckon ppl will use the roads same as before and pay the price.
Think its mad though the road is owned and run by overseas companies.
Chip.(who gets stung on the severn bridge a few times a week)

So long as they carry on building and maintaining "free" roads out of the billions that they make in car tax (of all descriptions), then i have no problem (other than normal environmental ones) with the building of toll roads.
Let the companies that want to run them take the risk as to whether they will be profitable of not!!
The road will definitely reduce congestion - either on the M6 (which gets really bad), or for those that pay pm the Toll one (or both!).
I live near the M6toll, and would probably pay the 3 quid (although the exact amount has not yet been decided - leaks are mearly testing the water (is that a pun or what!!) ) to get to the M6 North rather than the trek through Cannock.
However, if the profits are going abroad - i might change my mind!!

Thats a bit daft, wasnt the road supposed to relive congestion somewhere else, so if they charge on this road, wont the congestion there go back up

At busy times (e.g. 12:00 noon onwards on a Friday) it can take an hour to 90 minutes to get past Brum on the M6 - and that is without the roadwords that are currently in place with 40mph limits.
Even at the minimum wage, an hour of time will cost more than the suggested toll, so it makes sense to use the new road!
I wonder if the Police will have to pay the tolls
