Anyone know of any.I recently bought a DVD player and am looking to get some of my fav films on dvd.I know HMV atm have a 2-1 offer,most good films end up about £10(not new ones though).

I also went into "Game",that pc shop,today and bought "A perfect Storm" for £6.99 and got "The Mask" for 99p.They have a promotion on

Anyone know of any more offers around.

if you look on ebay you can get some bargains, some people sell copies - er no i meant backup films for as little as £1.50, titles not even released on cinema in the uk

Cheers mate.....region 2 is UK and Europe right,..are region 1 and 2 the same quality,or is one better.
I have a multi-region DVD.
Also are the 5.1 effects on older films as good as the new ones,older as in say 8-10 years ago.ie 'Seven'.

You'd generally expect a Region 2 picture to look better than a Region 1, the reason being a PAL R2 picture is made up of 625 lines compared to an NTSC R1 picture at 525 lines - although there are a myriad of factors that can affect the picture - quality of the pressing,how much beer the viewer has consumed! ;-), etc.

In addition R1 discs sometimes have more extras and are released sooner than their R2 counterparts.

Basically it really is down to personal choice - if you want films early then R1 is probably the best way to go. If you don't mind waiting for releases then I'd say R2. Extras have never bothered me.

Add my recommendation for Play.com, as well.

5.1 are 5.1 nothings changed, its not down to the age but whether 5.1 sound has been encoded. Your example of Se7en is actually one of the few that has EX 5.1 & ES 6.1

Jimmy.....extra's dont bother me either,..will probably go for region 2.

Im..what i meant was that cos the newer films are made with 5.1 in mind,rather than transferred as in older films,do the older ones suffer as a result.Maybe the sound separation is not as good?
