I thought the law changed on June 23rd but there are still illegally setup cameras everywhere. We still have camera signs where there are definetly no cameras.

I thought the law had changed but that it was advisory and therefore the current cameras or lack of and signs were okay.
But that it was in there interest to change them to meet the new regs and that new cameras should meet with the new regs
something like that...
I'll email Steve at UK Speedtrap bible and ask...

Plod are OK up there as long as you don't take the p1ss. Last time we went up there, 2 bike cops on BMW's waved up past. We were suspicious at first, but I think they genuinely didn't want to spoil our fun. Gave them a friendly wave and opened it up

Maybe if you lot stopped posting messages about how fast you drive and how great certain roads are then the police would not read about it on this BBS and go and wait for you would they Muppets, not that any of you do that because you all dispise and don't condone speeding on the public highways, you all save it for the incredably long drives you all seem to have don't you. Anyway as none of you ever speed anywhere what difference does it make where they put cameras???
Also I didn't read any mention af a cat & fiddle in that report.

I openly admit that I speed...
In the appropriate place... If I get caught then I'd moan but it is a fair cop.
What I object to is being told that the camera's are SAFETY CAMERA's and then finding out that they are placed on roads that are already safe!!
If I was told from day one they are Speed Camera's to enforce the Speed limit then fair cop..
But no they have said that they are Speed Camera's to improve safety..
I have seen some situations where they are doing exactly that, like the 30mph zone on my way home, all for it.. annoying if you get caught but it is a reminder that I should be doing 30mph..
and I do do 30mph... because there are kids about and pedestrians.
or on the M11 through the roadworks, protecting the workers there etc..
What I object to is the cameras like on the A14.. which actually cause more problems than they cure.. people driving along at or below the speed limit and then braking hard because they see a camera and go into panic mode..
Do not see the point in putting the camera's there..
So Wurzel do you drive below the speed limit all the time then?

Nope JGM I spead almost everywhere because I love the noise my car makes but near schools and where some wuckfit pedestrian is likely to jump out in front of me I drive below the speedlimit until I am passed them, then make some noise. I have been cought speeding 3 times in the last 2 years but unlike the UK we get a fine but no points for anything less than 30 km over the limit.

On Britain's most dangerous road, if you do 12000 miles a year, then you will be involved in one fatal/serious accident once in every 60 years note: not necessarily killed or injured yourself. And even the other most dangerous roads are significantly safer than that.
Time to put the pedal to the metal
Edited because kilometres not miles.

According to the Department of Transport "...research showed a reduction of 47% in the number of people killed and seriously injured at camera sites, compared to the previous years without the cameras."
