Dealers that buy cars?
#3
Depends what car it is but I've had no problems selling cars to dealers in Macclesfield -- Seven Stars and Westminster. Sold a Fiesta, Pug 306 and a Mondeo this way, all for pretty good prices. If it's something that they can sell on quick (small / medium hatch etc) then they'll snap it up.
OK, not as much money as I might get from a private sale but no cost for advertising and no f*ck*ng tyre kickers. As an example -- 6 year old Mondeo 1.8LX sold for £3000. Better than any trade-in deals I was offered.
I just ring the dealer, say I'm looking to sell a car, tell 'em what I'm looking to get for it. If they say bring it down, take the car (cleaned of course) plus all docs, V5 etc to them. Every time I've had a cheque on the spot.

It's a Lexus IS200. I've placed ads everywhere and had no reponse. I just want rid as I've bought my Scoob and I'm skint!
I've offered it to my local Lexus dealer, but they said the mileage was too high for their forecourt.

Thing to do is simple.
Get the Lexus books from your car, and call all the Lexus dealers in there. Ask for the used car buyer, who is also usually the sales manager and ask if he is interested. Describe the car fairly, point out any marks or defects and see what they offer. This is what any dealer will do when he is asked to take a car he won't retail in as a part-exchange, except they might ring numbers advertised in CAP/Glass guides. It may take a little time, but its probably your best bet.
