Question

Driving along, above the speedlimit slightly but the road is clear motorway and you are relatively safe..

You look in the mirror and there is nothing behind you..

You look again all of 20seconds later and there is Blue flashing lights!! heart jumps.. panic!!

Happened to me twice last night!!! both times they turned out to be ambulances!

I think it is on a par with that feeling when you realise you are not going to make that bend!

Would it not be a good idea for a Police Car, Ambulance, Fireengine to give out a signal that say traffic master systems and radar detectors pick up? then you could be prepared and make sure you are out of the way, not that I was in the way last night but the amount of times I have seen an emergency vehicle up the chuff of a car that will not get out the way, because they haven't looked in their mirror since passing their test..
A little bleep and flashing blue light on the traffic master or radar detector could do wonders?

What do you think? should I sell the idea.. doh!

Backing onto your drive and hearing the rear mudflap being ripped off as you catch a dropped curb, thinking it was pulling your £2,500 rear bumper off with it...that's a worse feeling mate LOL

I unfortunatly haven't got that expensive a bumper on my car, but then fortunatly I cannot get that feeling then Chuck.

Although I did once reverse my car into my motorcycle which I forgot I have parked on the end of the drive.. but I won't go there...

Driving slowly over those mountains they call "traffic calming measures" and hearing the nasty scraping noise of your exhaust on the ground

My cobra 9000 9-band radar detector does give off a warning to emergency vehicles.

A W appears on the display with a lot of bleeping.

So the emergency service do send out a signal. It’s worked for me in the UK, Germany, Belgium, USA, Austria, and Switzerland can't vouch for the rest as I haven't driven there with it.

It has a two safety features

Safety Alert® Warns drivers of emergency vehicles and road hazards from systems equipped with Safety Alert transmitters.

StrobeAlertTM A Cobra exclusive, works with tens of thousands of emergency vehicles currently equipped with Strobe Alert Systems. Provides advanced alert of the presence and/or approach of these vehicles.

Yes... but deliberately... and it was not my trailer, but it was empty!

LOL...

I only seem to ground out when I go mock up rallying in Dartmoor..
Lots of farm tracks to get to the campsite.

Had the same feeling coming back from the bash the other night. Heard siren, saw blue lights, was squad car, so I moved over, panic mode well and trully on. not good! I wasn't being naughty either.

As for grounding out, hmm, well, Chris, think it's those tiny wheels of yours mate I used to have major probs with grounding when I had the 16" on, now with the 17" it HAS made a difference. It's amazing what an extra inch can do

Just spending £3k on your race bike and getting it painted, nice yoshimiuira tri oval titanium exhaust, first time out of the season throwing it into the gravel at Copse Silverstone, metal on tarmac noises not nice!

TBMeech,

That always happens, it seems race bikes prefer a few scuffs

The worst feeling is looking away from the road for an instant, looking back up and realising that everyone has stopped

Notorious,

I know that feeling..

Been flowing nicely for miles as soon as you look away it stops..

Perhaps if no one looked away from the road it would not stop?

Red face

had a bad experience with one piece bike leathers too, went to put them on (wearing boxers with no button up fly), my finest member fell out whilst i was zipping up (yes the zip is extremely chunky) managed to trap him and cause muchos discomfort, funnily enough it rendered me immobile for a few hours

Jolly,

Mate, nothing has caused me greater discomfort as that did at the time, imagine like when you were young and you slip off your pedals on your push bike and crunch your nuts on the crossbar / stem, then multiply the pain x1000000000000 thats how it felt lol

Did you have to undo the zip to get it out?

actually don't answer that..

Well I once did said thing off pedals and split a very sensitive bag.. all works still though as I have a daughter.

A mate once was swinging on a rope swing which had a hook on the bottom of the rope.. foot was on the hook.. he slipped off and I don't think I need to explain anymore..
We called him Hitler from then on..

How did we get on to this?

Mate of mine was downhilling on his MTB. After a big jump, his seat-post snapped, and the post went through his shorts, missing his nads by about an inch.

When he replaced his seat-post, he bought some super-strength titanium/carbon-fibre thing, costing about £200. Can't think why.
