Drving down the M1 last night and some kiddies in a K reg Astra were sitting in the outside lane. I was in a hurry and wanted past as Id caught them I was obviously going faster than them. The middle lane (and often the inside lane too) was totally empty and they wouldnt move over - even giving me the finger when I started to shake my head at their lack of road manners. Deciding not to antagonise them I zipped into the inside lane and slowed down when we got to some traffic and then back out into the fast lane a few cars further back, whereupon they sped up (to over the ton) and were gone - still hogging fast lane wven when middle lane was free.

The reason I didnt antagonise or undertake them was that two weeks back I joined an empty dual carriageway and came across a metro full of teenage tossers doing 65in the outside lane, they wouldnt let me past and then started throwing things out the car so that they would hit my car! WTF!

Any point ringing the cops? nah, I doubt it by the time they get their act together the kids will be long gone... sigh....

So what exactly is happening out there???

Jon.

I know what you mean mate. Its just as bad with the idiots who think its fun to sit 2 inches from your rear bumper and don't realise the distances required for breaking. As for the kids who think that novas, golfs, xr2's etc are capble of racing a scoob and HAVE to get past at any opportunity, well thats another story....

Wink

I don't suppose any of you were muppet teenagers in crap cars, or were you all expert drivers who started in Porsches?

I can admit to driving like a **** in the past in clapped out rubbish and I know I'm not the only one on this forum.

Never threw anything at other cars though...

Having a crap car or being young doesn't mean you don't know the rules of the road or lane discipline...

Ok so my title may have been misleading - probably should have said more about people chucking things and being tw@ts rather than their type / age of car...

Yeah agree were were all young once but I dont remember throwing things deliberatly at other motorists (wether out of jealousy or just being a tw@t) and can only imagine how annoyed (or dead?) I would feel if they did it to me when I was riding my motoribike!

Lane discipline is cited as one of the biggest bugbears for all motorists on all the Police Stop type progs I just dont get why were not allowed to undertake now that people deliberately hog the 'fast' lane - i expect this law to change soon...

I only ever threw snowballs and eggs out of the car.

Not at the same time of course, that would be silly

Cool

My missus was driving down our local bypass the other day and there were some idiots on scooters weaving over both lanes of the dual carriageway, at about 50mph, kicking each other She slowed down to avoid hitting them, I asked why she didn't just run one of the little ***** over coz her car needs a new bonnet & bumper anyway

I bite the heads of jellybabies and throw the rest out the sunroof
If I know the person who's following me:

This thing with lane discipline pisses me off too. Still, you might as well undertake them, if it's safe to do so, and if you ever get stopped for it simply explain that the lanes had formed into queues - there's nothing saying that a queue doesn't exist above a certain speed - the fact they are all sitting in the outside lane at 65 means it's a queue. It's worked for me anyway. I do, of course, appreciate the associated risks of undertaking on dual carraigeways/motorways - it's not expected for starters, and the driver has a larger blind spot in that side mirror, but when everyone is cruising in the outside lane and the other two are free, I'll be happy to cruise by at 75 in the inside lane

sco. nutter has it right, its all about respect, my first car was a mkII escort, loved it to bits and I admired people in smart cars not think they were flash c**ts !!!

As long as I'm in the car on my own and the road is clear....... If someone races into the back of me ,I just hit the brakes well hard..... Idont care what happens if they crash.
