This is my favourite road, mainly due to the stunning scenery:
And I even found a picture with a Scooby in it (anyone gonna claim this one?):
It's the Pass of the cattle, or 'Bealach na Bo' near Applecross - I doubt the police would bother setting up a speed camera there as the speed limit is 60 mph and I'd be impressed if anyone breaks that, especially going round the hairpin bends!

My driveway! Where i don't need to use the shockingly poor brakes and worry about my oil etc etc. Even after a week away, i couldn't possibly enjoy it on my fave roads given it's current state.

Crushinator,
Your car sounds in a bad way. What's the problem with it?
Fuzz, any number of back roads in the Midlands for testing out driving skills and car handling ability. Only problem is the morethan occasional horse or tractor. However as it's out in the sticks one can't complain too much.

Um I think its the A42 comming off the M25 J19 or 20 goes to Aylesbury. Had my cerbera at 165mph along there and regularly hit 150 in my scoob. Its like 7 miles of straight (ish) dual carriageway with just farm land either side and no gatsos.
Watch out for bunny wabbits though ;-)

It's the A41 . Dual carriageway all the way to tring. Lovely cut through from there to Cheddington / Wing ( B roads ) and onto Milton Keynes to pick up the M1.
**Police do cruise the A41**

Last Sunday when out for a drive came across a 9 mile stretch of road between Saffron Waldon and Royston. Not sure what it was called.
Not a single car for the whole nine miles. Also more than wide enough for two cars so no worries about oncoming traffic.

These were great roads in the lakes...
Quite dangerous, so not high speeds - but you could really use the low down power and feel each wheel working on some bits!
Closer to home the Meon Valley, Hampshire's a good one - lots of twisty bits, lots of open roads and not many annoying cars
Crush - sad to hear the peppermints not well Any more thoughts on the lotus?

Great. Now the Fuzz are blatantly coming onto this board and asking us what our favourite roads are. Whatever next - members' gallery of scanned driving licences? Banner ads saying Gatsos are cuddly?

Are gatso's not cuddly then?
...actually, saw one which had been set fire too or something that the other day...someone clearly didn't love that one!

Find Newton Stewart (Dumfries and Galloway), head North on the A714 until near Glentrool Village and pick up the unclassified road that goes through Galloway forest.
Finishes up towards Ayr and is magic. Winding single track (with passing places) through forests and moors. Stunning.
To that add any road on the Tour d'Ecosse. Applecross Pass, A890 to Strathcarroon, A832, A835, A837... the list is huge

Drove the B1153 up on the North Norfolk coast the other week to Bancaster. Very nice bit of road.
I was really gutted on the way back though. My fuel light came on so I crawled along and got overtaken by a 1.1 Polo!!

Fave drives? hmmmmmmmm.
Let's see.
B2169 from Tunbridge Wells to Lamberhurst is quite nice.
B2162 from Lamberhurst to Horsmonden, then through to Paddock wood is pretty cool too.
Think my fave at the moment has to be the B2124 from Halland to Ringmer. Nice long straight road, mmmmmmmm, v nice.
Other fave would be a run back from Camber Sands, via Lydd, Appledore and Tenterden, now that is a fun little road, some nice straights and a few twisties.
If i am serioulsy bored at the weekend then I'll do a nice little run down to Brighton, then along the coast, through newhaven and seaford, onto eastbourne, maybe taking in a little of beachy head, then on through Hastings, pop along through rye, then down past Camber, and then on through Lydd, and then back via Appledore and Tenterdend, then back home. Bit of a long un, but a good route, providing there's not too many people about.

Nice to see Jen appreciates the good Cumbrian passes!
I like the Elan valley in Wales, the road from Canonbie across to Kielder (rally fans will know this one), the run from Hawick up to Duns for the Jim Clark rally, the road from Lockerbie to Eskdalemuir and back to Langholm, most of the roads on the Isle of Man and numerous others!!!!

There is a website with the UK's best roads on it somewhere.
I am moving this to non-scooby related - I will not be putting my fave roads in here, as in all honesty I would rather have those roads free of hairdryers as I know the police do look at this site
Michelle.

Back to the top, as it's my favourite subject
I agree with nearly all the above, but would like to add a few Welsh ones
A4069 Brynamman-Llangadog
A481 Fforest Fields - Builth Wells
B4518 Llanidloes - Staylittle
B4391 LLanfyllin - Bala
B4501 Cerrigydruddion - Cloceanog Forest (part of the EVO triangle)
Just a few, or I could be here all day

CharlieWhiskey,
You beat me to it.
Folks, for those of you who don't know those are awesome driving roads, but stay away from them at around 5:00am Sunday mornings over summer as I have booked them for my exclusive use
Regards,
tiggers.
