Yeah, and the dog is scared of one of them...LOL...think it gave her a bit of a nip when she got her nose a bit close to the cage. Now commands serious respect from the dog
The other one just tells her (the dog) off from time to time. but they have a more understanding relationship.
All joking aside, our older Chinchilla (10yrs) can have serious *attitude* Younger one (rescued) is really docile but need to be treated with great care.

(Actually, update from earlier post - me and the Chnchilla will hunt you down )

i used to have 2 guinea pigs but one died a while back after being bit by a mole, the other died a couple of days ago (i forgot to top up his water and in the heat in got a bit overwarm)
i now have to choose a new pet, i still have the pig hutch so maybe something like a rabbit or a rat could go in there? but i also have an old fish tank and thought maybe i could get a lizard or a snake?
anyone got any good ideas for cool pets?
Sti
ps- it needs to be small cause i already have a big dog (well not yet but i have a mate whos getting rid of his cause its a bit nasty so im having it soon)

If it's a reasonable size fishtank, how about a couple of Geckos?
Only drawback is feeding them live animals...not for the squeemish.
Cutest pets ever though IMO
There are lots of websites offering info on care before you decide.

Tarantula
They are MASSIVELY low maintenance, and they dont smell, only need flooring stuff changing once or twice a year, carry no communicable diseases and eat little hoppy thingies that cost about 4p each and you only need one or two a week at MOST! You could use your tank, only needs a light bulb (low wattage) and a bit of water in an open dish now and then.
Very relaxing (they hardly move!) and cheap to buy.

raze,
i had a pink toe'd tarantula a few years ago, it just sat in the tank. it was quite theraputic to take it out and let it have a run on your hands, it would carry on all night if you did'nt get bored-spiders do not like to stay still on an animate object.
mine died when it was in the process of shedding it's skin. i was working away at the time, and my bro put the remains in the old cheese's bed, so it wasn't in vain.
had a lizard tank aswell, with a tokay geko amongst others. mint thing to look at, red skin with sky blue spote. it used to do this combinded hiss / growl thing when you handled it.had a bit of a laugh sticking it to the patio doors etc, but the novelty soon wore off.
i now have two cats- not quite as exotic but still interesting animals. the next pet venture is a tropical tank built into the wall, breeding cichlids.

You pet owning noob. The amount of sh*te you gave people who laughed at your first Guinea pig dying. Sob stories of how much you loved them blah blah, then you go and let the other one die of thirst and heat.
Its almost unbelievable !

i would have a scorpion, if only for the fear factor when the missus has her annoying mates round the house. is yours poisonous?
i think i still prefer fish-not quite as interesting or exotic as lizards, but they offer a better visual effect.

erm..sort of..like wasps are poisonous, but the stinging bit is a bit bigger, obviously... :P
Mine is actually of a very docile species, and its sting is very mild....
*lecture mode on*
Look at the size of the claws - big claws means thats what it relies on to kill things, hence weedy sting.
Small thin claws means NASTINESS in the pointy end...RUN AWAY!!!!

Not a dog for your own sake. If you're really as bad at looking after animals as you sound then you'll be mauled to death by it - and rightfully so.
See you in prison.

thanks for the suggestions....errr, some of you anyway!
anyway, i am now sorted- i have got a chinchilla and 2 chipmunks from the freeadds, the lady who was getting rid of them said she didnt have time to look after them properly and let me have all three for £30 as long as i let her see them once every few weeks.
for now they are living in the tank but i assume i will have to modify the pig hutch so they can live in that (maybe fix it against the wall like a bird avery? ) cant do it yet cause its pooring with rain and im not getting wet!
i'll post some pics soon- they are well cute!
Sti
ps- is it safe to burry my pig in the garden or will a fox/cat dig it up? i need to do something with him and dont like the idea of throwing him away.

Useful link for your next forgetful moment! At least this way the previous owner can get to see them every couple of weeks after you've finished with them.... http://www.learn-taxidermy.com/

Sti,
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the second death was a tragic accident
Re the chinchillas. If they have lived indoors you CANNOT have them outside, in any weather.
If they get wet, their coats will matt and they will probably die.
If they get too hot, they will die of heat stress
If they get too many drafts, they will get ill and probably die
Chipmunks may be ok outside if they are not used to it, provided you aclimatise them carefully. The chipmunks will need a big, high cage so they can jump about. The chinchilla needs floor space, but not so much height.
VERY IMPORTANT
The chipminks will chew their way through anything short of steel plate hence why they are in a tank.
Your existing hutch will probably hold them for about a day and they will escape. Whatever they live in must be lined with something impregnable
As for the big dog thats turning nasty, might not be a good idea.
Oh, and if I find out you have not heeded this advice and anything bad comes of these animals, me and my dog will hunt you down

I'd suggest not getting Chins - we had 3 and they required a lot of care and attention.
One of ours died of a heart attack, and several months later another had the very common problem of the back teeth growing up through the jaws into the eye sockets. We didn't pick it up soon enough (it was eating fine, etc., etc) and even the vet missed it when he examined him - the poor thing ended up having to be put down.

We had chipmunks for years - great little pets, but high maintenance (lots of cleaning out, food etc).
The ecelectus parrot - he died of organ failure (never was much good on the keyboard anyway). Expensive mistake.
Still have a desert iguana - low maintenance and very boring really, but unusual and pretty.
Was given a duck recently - damn thing woke me up every morning and needed a nappy to wander around (incontinent little b*gger). He now lives with all his duck be-atches in a local pond. Don't recommend them as very messy, even though cute.
Ultimate pet is a dog - I'd love one but it's cruel if you're not around all day. Shame.
