Sat at my PC playing Warcraft 3 this morning and hear this grating sound over the whine of my 5800 RPM Delta CPU Fan. Think its something grating on the fan but on closer inspection the sound is coming from the window sill about a foot from where my PC case is standing.

Ah thinks me - must be one of the Creative Labs 5.1 speakers I keep there, crackling due to dampness or such. Pull back curtain and then see about 20 wasps digging their way up through the wooden window sill. On closer inspection there is a whole beneath it on the outside which is where they have come in and gradually dug through to the inside.

Is a rented house and with it being saturday the leasing agency are shut til mon morning. For the moment I have poured a load of ant killer down the whole and blocked it up from the inside. The hole on the outside is on the second floor so need a ladder to even get near it if I feel brave enough to climb up through a whole nest of them.

Any suggestions/tips other than buying some wasp spray? Council will clear em out but its £58 and only mon-fri.

I did think of that but too much wood nearby for my liking - a wasps nest is better than a burnt down house

Raid do a wasps nest destoryer spray. It's like a foam that you cover the nest with, or even the exit holes. The wasps get it on them and take it into the nest. It then kills the nest.

Buy it from B&Q

not too long ago there was a wasps nest in our loft. they ate a hole into my bedroom ceiling and hundreds of them got into my room at night. i heard a kind of digging noise and noticed a wet patch on my ceiling (wasps spit on the area they are digging at to soften it), and i got up in the night and pressed the wet patch and heard a noise. i got out of bed and went downstairs closing my door behind me.

i slept downstairs overnight, and when i got up and went to look at my bedroom in the morning there were hundreds and hundreds of wasps flying round there.

was scary to think that if i hadn't moved i would have been in the room when they got through the ceiling.

P1 Fanatic- buy some Nippon Wasp Destroyer. It's like the ant stuff. You put it near the nest hole, they take it in, and the whole lot die. My mate had a nest in his loft. He put the stuff near the entry, and 3 days later I went up and cut the nest away. Not a one left alive.
Katana- that spider LOOKS awful, but what's it DO???

Do you really want to know what these babies do? For starters its the size of a dinner plate, it will chase after you at 30 mph and eats your face while you are asleep whitout you even realising it.

Just ask any Desert Storm vets about the Camel Spiders. They'll start crying like babies...

see: http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Qu.../8287/life.htm
This is the infamous Camel Spider. If it looks ugly that's only because it is. These little bad boys have a way of their own. They run on 6 legs. The front 2 legs are lifted up when they run. Making them very quick. Their bites (although painful) are not very poisonous. They do have a venom that will inhibit healing and usually leaves a scar. Other than that there just scary looking.
Sounds like a wussy spider to me.

Knowing what a fan you are, get Jade from BB to come along & kiss the entrance to the nest. The wasps will soon f*ck off then. I know I would

Hmmmmmm. not so nice then, and I don't think I'd describe one as "wussy" to it's (face????).
On a tangent, however, I seem to notice that it has 10 legs? So is it a spider? I thought arachnidae had 8 legs? And if not actually a spider wtf?
