Well afeter all the problems I had with getting my Hope brakes serviced..... I contacted Hope myself. They asked me to return my brakes and "Offered at a small charge " to upgrade them to New "Minis" complete with 185 /165 wavy disks. I fitted these last night and started the bedding in process. This should be finished by the weekend.
They look very nice and already feel better.
I am very happy with "Hope" They didnt realy have to help me out.But fealt that I had spent good money with them ( 3 x sets of brakes and a least 4 sets of hubs!!) Quality service from a quality company.
How many of you guys use a work stand ??? Still want to by a neew one. So any thoughts.
Luke

I have had great help and support from Hope.
My XC4 were really screaming when I applied the brakes, everything was balanced okay.
The discs cleaned the pads rubbed down and eventually switched.
Never once did I get a sigh down the phone when I was talking to them. In the end the guy that I spoke to asked if I had thought of baking the pads, a quick jaunt with a blow torch and then waiting a while.... nice!
It is nice that all the advice is free and they don't seem to mind. Good Northern blokes after all!
I just borrow a bike shop's stand, they don't seem to mind that my bike was in there all day getting sorted out after an off either. Although I have helped out a few times building bikes and even a wheel once (although not the balancing bit).

Hi Luke,
Sounds like a repeat story. Most people I know who have Hopes, and have had problems, have had nothing but help and support from Hope. So much so, that even though they say (at the time) that they will never buy Hope again, they do, purely because they know they will get the support to sort any problems.
There again, I've never had *any* problems with my Avid Discs
Saying that, I'm looking at selling the i-Drive as I never use it nowadays, too busy messing about on my singlespeed.
Cheers
Ian

Xc4's are very good when they work...... Me thimnks they had good batches and bad. But The new minis are fantastic.. Getting better by the day.
Alan or "Woody" are the guys I normaly talk to. Very good service a credit to their company. But They can be a bit slow with emails!!!
And as for Avids.... well I still have a soft spot for them. If you have a front disk wheel then I would reccomend you try them. They are VERY powerfull.

Just got another Cannondale last weekend, a Raven 800. Got an excellent deal from an ex-Cannondale dealer keen to clear out old stock. Bike is disc ready but I'm unsure. I've got new magura hydraulic rim brakes and these are very good. How much would a full hope conversion set me back?

Magura.. Very powerfull... But can total your rims!!! Must use correct pads. A set of minis from hope will be about£220.00 pair.
Avids about £90.00
