anyone a house insurance expert?

i have lost a piece of jewlery- it is covered under the cotents policy i have which covers possesions up to a certain value.

however, i contacted my previous insurer about 2/3 months ago as i thought i lost it then (sounds iffy i know- bear with it! ) anyway, that insurer said "nope, you aint covered" so it went no further.

will my new insurer check with my old insurer and see i tried to claim for the same thing twice? whch makes it look very dubious ( i appreciate this seems dubious! but it aint! )

i have an independant bod coming to check with me later this week- will he know about the previous "claim" or not and if he does will it matter?

Mr B

by the way its not a particually exensive thing, but if im covered im covered!
