Just moved house and the previous owner left his dish on the side of the house. If I get hold of a decoder will this mean I will be able to receive C4 and C5 (aerial reception poor) and a few free channels without having to subscribe?
If so, anyone know a cheap place to purchase a decoder?

Yes
You will need to ring the BBC who will send you a viewing card enabled for the free-to-view channels.
