Forgive me if already covered but my understanding is that all camera's have to be reflective yellow, with warning signs in advance and not hidden, all with effect from 01 July 2002. Also, warning signs are not allowed where there are no cameras. IF this is correct then coming into the 2 lane section on the A3 northbound prior to Tolworth, the first camera breaks the rules as no reflective yellow. Next one is yellow but hidden behind a sign. Come off at Tolworth on A240 towards Ewell. First camera is not yellow, nor is is signed. There are then signs but no cameras. Then up the A240 towards Burgh Heath, again signs but no cameras. First camera at Burgh Heath is not yellow, nor is the next. Then onto A217 towards Reigate. two cameras along that stretch, neither of which are yellow. YET, all these camera's are active in terms of radar/laser 'cos my detector tells me so. Question is, if they have film in and try to prosecute, will they fail because of the new rules? Also, what about the gantry cameras on the M25. I know which gantries have cameras but presumably they have to comply with the new rules? Any info much appreciated.

Edited for typo's

I would imagine there's a "get out clause" which means that you can still be fined even if you are caught by a camera which does not conform to the guidelines.

Surrey police aren't signed up to the 'cash for cameras' deal as I recall - and it is only these that are required to do all the cameras.

There is also the question of visibility from 60m - which the one just off the A3 at tolworth towards Epsom definately isn't as it is hidden behind trees.
