Have you checked the signal strength in the boxes menu settings? If you have it set to a uhf channel with a week signal then you may not get all the channels. Channel 69 is usually the strongest but depends where you live. You do not need any card to view the FTA channels.

A bit miffed off now...

Phoned BBC and they said that although we are in the coverage area, we will need to upgrade the arial to rececive the BBC channels!! We had our arial changed for wideband a couple of years ago as we were thinking of going digital. This is the first time we used it to receive DVB and now it looks like we need to change again!!!

I'm going to call the arial installer, providing I can find the receipt..

Question

I've now got my brother old on-digital (itv digital) box now he's got NTL. It works OK except that I can not get any of the BBC channels (except the iteractive ones 701 and 702).

Anyone know why this should be? It worked fine at his home. All I want it for is to view the free channels. It still has the sim card.

Should work ok.
You don't even need the Smart card to view the BBC channels.
Try re-scanning for channels from scratch again.

Nimbus,
you can get a "free-to view" card by phoning
0870-243-8000
cant answer the question as to why you cant receive BBC though.. apart from the already suggested 're-tune'

cheers alan

Check that the UHF channel is set to the same one that you are seeing a good signal on. What region are you in, do you know what transmitter you are picking up from as there have been some problems with the BBC signal? I have some good contacts on modshack who will be able to help if you have no luck tonight.

We are on the Waltham transmitter. Channel 41 give the "good" signal (I think).. How can I change which uhf it's using? Does it not do this when I change the number in the "signal Strength" section?

Thanks for your help
