Tears in my eyes watching him trying to convince the Spanish authorities that he already paid for road toll and museum costs...

He's just brutally honest and says what he wants. There is a lot of crap in this world but some good stuff too and Europe has a lot to offer. It's a better place to live than the States - IMHO.

Yes I liked his "I set off as an Englishman, and ended my journey as a European" comment.

makes me want to do that trip myself (not in an E Type though!)

Got to agree! Most inspiring programme I've seen for a long time. Soooo want to go topless (well, roofless) down all those spectacular European mountain passes. Got me in the mood so much I've been looking at ferry costs from Edinburgh (£250 to Zeebrugge)!

Mind you, I got a bit of a scare when I looked up how much the French road tolls might cost me:
http://www.drive-alive.co.uk/autoroutes.htm

Surely this can't be right!? Forty quid just to use the motorway from Paris to Toulouse! Thirty quid Paris to Bordeaux! Looks like my little trip to Europe could end up costing A LOT more than I'd thought! Or can anyone tell me if it's easy to avoid the peages, using toll free roads instead?

PS Does anyone know if they're going to release the series on video/DVD? I'd be first in the queue....

Usually there will be a toll free road to make your journey on, it will just take a bit longer to get to your destination which if you are on holiday doesn't really matter

Away from the major cities in Spain, the toll motorways are very very quiet, allowing plenty of fun with the loud pedal

Coming back from Lloret-de-Mar to Santander (about 470 miles), I paid the following tolls on my Visa...

£0.92
£0.33
£0.33
£10.40
£1.71
£13.09

Just slap the plastic into the slot (saves messing with change) and give the Scoob death or glory pulling away
