London Science Museum question...
#1
In the late 70's early 80,s can anyone remember one of the displays that they had in the museum. It was in the basement area.
It was a round table with a ball in the middle of it. The ball looked like a larger version of the steel ***** used in a pinnball table. The idea was that you had to try and touch the ball before it dissappeared into a hole in the centre of the table.
The table had a sensor somewhere on it that made the ball disappear.
Sad, I know, but my mate remembers it and he says that the ball was actually an illusion - I say that it was a real metal ball.
Anyone settle this argument?

Pretty sure it was real because it made a clunking sound. Can't remember how it worked though. Of course, I don't remember it that well because I was only young when I went there. Honest.
He might be mixing it up with the mirror-bowl illusion where it looks like there is a ball there, but there isn't, it's actually a reflection.

I'm pretty sure it was a real ball - you could lean over and stick your hand into the hole where the ball was, and feel it there. Sadly that didn't count as having managed to touch the ball, though
