Default slow puncture

Hi All

I am losing about 0.2 bar of pressure every week on the same tyre. I presume it is a slow puncture/leak. What is the best way to check this? Do you think the valve is the likely culprit?

Stick it in a large bucket of water, look out for bubbles

Wouldnt it be a lot easier to smear it with soapy water in situ

Is it an alloy?

Sometimes they can leak or become porous.

Had a similar problem which i fixed by having the tyre removed, then painting the inside of the the wheel with Hammerite

I've had a few of these recently. Could be a screw or nail you can't see unless you get the wheel off. Could be leaky valve or cracked alloy. I have just had one where there was so much gunk inside the rim edge - build up of old stuck on rubber etc - that the tryre doesn't seal properly. Local tyre place, an independant, took tyre off and power sanded the rim gunk and refitted. Cost me £15.
