I'm currently watching a netflix series called Queen of the south. It'sbout a woman rising through the ranks of a drug cartel to become the Queen of the south, and wonder the following..

Most of the the cast are Mexican and theres often times where they speak spanish but mid sentence they will flip to English and the back to Spanish.

It's not just this series but all series/ movies I watch with more than one language being spoken.

Any reason why they do this?

Try keeping up with a conversation when they flip from spanish castilian to catalan.

Sure they do it on purpose to confuse me

The yank audience wouldnt pay thier subs if it were just subtitles , sad really

no doubt theres some manadarin interjected somwhere for the chinese audience

In case I've not explained it clearly I mean:

Entire Episode the spanish cast speak English but every now and then mid sentence they will go from English to spanish and then back to English.

Sounds a bit like my life, only with German and English
