This decade I have personally owned the following daily driver...
2005 Golf R32 purchased in 2007
Thats it!
Alright I do have some BMWs and stuff in the family that get shared about for the donkey work:
E46 325 touring (on the 3rd family member now)
E39 530i Champagne II (rust bucket..sills welded, so should last a few more years, still drives great though)
F07 530d GT ...gone...had 20” wheels even with SE suspension it had a horrible ride
F07 535d GT This one has adaptive shocks and 19” wheels, rides and handles much better (until now as a pothole bent a track rod ).
2007 Altea TDi. The cleanest VAG platform car you’ll see...not a single rusty bolt underneath. Just fitted a new turbo as the VNT had seized just before the end stop so it was overboostibg pretty impressively. It could outdrag most stuff for ten seconds before it kicked in the limp mode (back off beforehand to keep it out of limp) It’s like working on a brand new car. Also quiet as I filled every interior void with sound deadening! Should replace it but new VAG platforms are not as solidly made (pressed steel subframes/lower arms vs. Cast alloy frames and solid arms) and all the extra emissions control and the uncertainty of what EU governments are going to do with diesels...the only gain is better/modern interior/radio and a taller 6th gear for better economy.
Then there’s the 1982 Jag XJ-S that’s moved 6 miles this year and dumped a litre of oil on the drive when I moved it 5 yards.
And the 1969 Series 2 Lightweight that’s out to pasture in the back yard; Debating on if I should put a new chassis in it and restore as original spec or patch it it up as it is (the drivetrain layout is pretty bonkers).
Oh and the bikes....down from nine to three!
Now on the lookout for a nice little 4wd Kubota tractor 🚜

Probably should mention my last Impreza: MY97... Sold back in 2007, it was still soldiering on, but did a check and its tax and Mot expired in September 2019 and its not SORN’d....I fear it may have succumbed to the dreaded tin worm.
It was garaged whilst I owned it and I’m pretty fastidious when it comes to jetwashing the salt off the undersides in winter, but obviously it never had that benefit after I sold it, so it may have lasted a lot longer than most Classics it would probably meet the same end...as parts on the ‘bay

It’s like an old pair of shoes...comfy but needs TLC
Gets used and abused daily so its took its toll, whilst not molly coddled its had a fair amount of stuff done over years.
Still have no desire for anything newer, seems newer stuff in my price bracket is all of a muchness now...mostly 2wd overweight 4pot turbos with underwhelming throttle response. In the end I just added stuff it should have had when new (cruise control, steering remote, sat nav/carplay, amp, sub, electric heater etc).

2007 B7 RS4 saloon bought in 2009. Great, solid car. Sounded great but didn’t inspire Sunday morning blasts.
2012 M3 competition. My first brand new car. Fabulous, if a little plain interior compared to the Audi but I still miss this car..
2014 M4. New. Oops what a mistake. Convinced myself it was the right thing to do but all that low end torque often wasn’t transferred to tarmac without sliding around/tc cutting in. Suspension was also a bit choppy and not to mention that noise which I still hate.. Big mistake.
2010 911 GT3. Purchased in 2017. First Porsche for me, but thought it may be the last so I went for a proper one 😆. The only car that brought me to tears whilst driving it home from the dealer due to that incredible engine noise... just wow! Awesome machine, and even better once Centre Gravity did a full chassis set up.
2019 C4 GTS. A great compromise and something I can use daily in a little more comfort. Not missing the GT3 too much as this thing is a great all rounder...

Cars I've owned in just the past 10 years:
For the family: Honda CRV ---> Kia Sorento
For me!: Clio 182 Trophy ---> BMW 135i
I tend not to buy cars that often, but in for my complete car history, I miss the Clio Trophy the most; the most fun to be had on three wheels!
