The commercial version of Roundup is available online, and is approx 4 times stronger than the garden centre version. It is still available as lobbyists within the EU have campaigned for keeping it, although the original manufacturer has been successfully sued by cancer sufferers. However, it is one of the few effective weed killers.

As said regardless of brand, the main ingredients is Glyphosate...Bayer (Monsanto) successfully lobbied the EU to ban its competitors, so that is pretty much all you have now...just in different strengths.

Gallup amenity is good if you can get it....it’s still glyphosate but you have a gallon of concentrate rather than 500ml of diluted premix or sachets that’ll mix 5litres, so is far more economical to use.

Waste brake fluid works well too I don’t encourage it, as it stinks and is nasty stuff, but it finally got rid of a persistent sycamore stump that wouldn’t give up

Default weed killer

RoundUp kills everything,
If its just weeds that grow in your lawn (thistles, nettles, docks brush etc) you should use Grazon Pro kills all but the grass.

"Grazon Pro is a selective weedkiller for the control of perennial broad leaved weeds such as nettle, docks & thistle in established grassland. The best method for control of weeds such as these is by using a selective herbicide such as Grazon. Grazon Pro is a strong weedkiller that will control the weeds listed on the label but will not harm grass, making it the market leading product for spot spraying unsightly paddock weeds. Grazon Pro ® is also effective on weeds such as dandelion, creeping buttercup & daisy."

I used the small viles of roundup and it’s so good that somehow I got it on my shoes. Walked across the garden and there was a perfect dead spot everywhere I stepped.

took months to grow back 😂.
I now use bleach

I use Roundup Pro Vantage 480. Its not normally on general sale, but you can get it from Ebay.

Dangerous stuff. Definitely way stronger than anything you get from the shops.

Rock salt from the local Grit Box if you have one. Slow melt. Lasts for ages.

This is what I use as a landscaper, but this, and Grazon should be applied by someone with a pesticide spray license. Failing that, don't spray in wind, or hot weather, and wear nitrile elbow gloves and a face shield. Glyphosate is not environmentally friendly ( it builds up in all parts of the food chain, as it is designed to enter tissues) and has been linked to Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Any pesticide that still works well will be bad for you.

I don't use it personally but work for a company that manages Parks and Open Spaces on behalf of the Council and one of the products we have is http://www.rigbytaylor.com/Shop+by+P...0488276-05.htm

Before I started here I believe that residual pesticides were common place, especially in cemeteries etc, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Good advice

Should also add don’t use glyphosate based weed killers (which is any ‘total weekiller’) when rain is forecast, It needs time to soak into leaves, otherwise it washes off and degrades in soil so is a pure waste of time and money. It only works on green growth (or cutting into the bark/trunk), so don’t waste it spraying bare ground..as said it’s designed to breakdown in soil, so it’s no good for preventing weeds germinating.

By the way...it doesn’t kill genetically modified crops ...The main cause of it getting in the food chain in countries like the USA

Spot on. Monsanto genetically modified soy crops so that they could be over sprayed with glyphosate, only killing the surrounding weeds. Doesn't seem quite right for any food crop to me.
