MY Origin Blue i speed detector, advised of this camera, near York on Saturday.
Origin have sent me the following description of how it works:
"The Hidy hole alert is for a fixed speed trap technically called a DS2
Speedmaster.
You may have seen a police car at the side of the road at this point looking
as though they were taking a nap or having sandwiches. You will also notice
at this point there is a grey post about 1m high, the police are plugged
into this post which is connected to an inductive loop in the road. Whilst
the police are sipping tea they are watching your speed! This is a Hidy Hole".
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

foreign plates, huh?
OK, cheap flat in France £20,000, registering car in France £100, Evading capture by the police, priceless
Unless I get pulled by an actual policeman. Does that even happen anymore? Do we now have a Virtual Police Force?

There's two of these on the A134 between melford and bury st. edmunds (suffolk). One in alpheton and one in the last 30 limit (can't remember the name of the village) just before you reach bury itself. They've been there for years and I've driven the road countless times but never seen any police cars hooked up, guess it gives them an excuse to plaster the entire 16 mile stretch with speed camera signs though.

More details on this system (including the optional link to a camera) can be found on the UK Speedtraps site.

Moresauce,
The Blue i gives plenty of warning, flashing light's, bleeping and a lady telling you what type of camera you are approaching. As you approach the camera the distance counts down, user configurable from 200M to 2000M.
Also provides the speed you are travelling and the direction - Useful in town.
Easy to fit too, mine is on the dash top to the left of the instruments.
Makula has negotiated a good price too.

Does anyone using the A5 have one of these excellent Origin Bluei devices? This weekend I travelled between Shrewsberry and Oswestry on the A5 and back. My Origin picked up "hidey holes". I've been through Specs, Gatso and Truvelo cameras but this was the first time I've seen "hidey hole".
I've read the info on <ahref=http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/speed02.htm>ukspeedtraps.co.uk</a> but I didn't see any marked or unmarked vehicles or strips in the road or posts. Does that mean that they weren't monitoring at that particular time, after all it was a sunday?

If you didn't see anything, it doesn't mean that it wasn't there. The induction loops are buried in the road, and all you can normally see (unless they have marked them with rumble strips) are three rows of bitumin in the tarmac. The post is normally painted graey, and is only 2' high and 6"x8" so is not paticularly visible. However, unless a vehicle is plugged into it, the chances are that you weren't caught.
