Yep, my council just granted permission to demolish a house of significant importance to local history (Noah Hingley...have a Google ), to make way for new builds....so that gives the council seven extra rates in council tax income versus one.
If that was not bad enough...If someone were to buy it and try and save the house, the tree preservation officer (unelected **** with no aborist qualification). Has protected no fewer than six trees including their root areas in the front garden; One of which is is on a mound above ground level and blocks the drive, two overhang the house and block half the windows and a third undermines the foundation; All of which you cannot see from the public road/path because of the three further giant trees competing in front of them on the property boundary! None of which can pruned and all of which have root protection areas.
I've dealt with this guy and he's a grade A idiot, he won't let me properly prune my Beech tree, his attitude is "if in doubt it must not be touched". Yet he'll happily turn a blind eye to all of the council owned trees which get felled or hacked and turned into eyesores. I hope his type 2 camper van cracks a cylinder head, throws a rod and gets mistaken for a skip and taken away by a skip hire truck
