Car tax
Yesterday I collected my brand new car & due to a recent family tragedy my head was a bit fuzzy so I forgot to ask. My car ive part exchanged to the main dealer was taxed monthly by direct debit, they took the logbook and said that its now done online etc. My question is what about the car tax? Do I need to contact the DVLA to cancel it or will it be done when the dealer notifies them of change of ownership.

The car dealer would have booked it into trade immediately (so they take ownership) and the cancellation of your Direct Debit is triggered automatically when that happens.

DVLA will refund any funds that were drawn in between the ownership change and the DD cancellation filtering through their system.
