Im moving house next week and im thinking about upgrading my internet connection from my ice age dial up 56k modem to ADSL/broadband.
the only bummer is, only NTL cover the area of my new house, i also think the outgoing occupants are already on NTL.
the question is.....
a. is it worth upgrading to NTL (especially if theres already a connection).
b. how reliable and efficient are NTL.
c. whats the initial cost and how much is it likely to cost me a month.
Also, i know you get digital tv with it but ive already got sky digital, can i have the internet connection without the digital tv, or am i just as well getting shot of sky?
Ive heard so many bad things about NTL, surely someone out there has something good to say (or maybe not).
any other information is also appreciated.
cheers

I'm not sure on the exact price as NTL have never charged me for my 64k connection, but it was (I think) £15 a month for the one I've got and £25 for 512k. On top of that you need a cable modem, which can be rented from them for £7 a month, or bought outright for £150. You did not need to take the TV package to have the broadband connection, and I'd personally recommend you stick to Sky as everyone I know with NTL cable has frequent picture freezing moments which are very annoying.
Reliability has been good, I got disconnected once as they managed to lose my details, so I had to re-register. I should point out that to get through to speak to someone took me 5 hours (not cheap when you are using a mobile). It is good when it is working, but their support IMHO is terrible, far worse than even Sky or BT
