118 rip off. And take out a mortgage if you ask them to connect for you
Not so good to talk: Phone giant charges £5.68 to get just one number from 118 118
BT, Sky and Virgin all blame rises on the service provider
BT added that it took only a small fraction of the charge
Earlier this month BT, Sky and Virgin all made huge increases to minimum charge for calling 118 118 – taking it from £3.58 to £4.45
TalkTalk increased the minimum fee by 45 per cent from £3.92 to £5.68

This has been a major irritation for me for years - BT had a monopoly - well boo hoo - the charge from BT was 25p..... someone in OFCOM (******) had the great idea to 'open the market up to competition' - so took this service off rapacious BT and said anyone can now do it (lets face it we were all being royally ripped off 25 pence!) and now look whats happened - the average charge now to Directory Enquiries is £9!
£9 ******* quid!! SO that little intervention (that nobody wanted) went well then - FFS
Sometimes just because someone has a monopoly doesn't make it bad - its just they may be the only & best provider - God stuff like this makes my **** boil
(and no - I'm not Jeremy Corbyn's love child either! hahahaha)

Its also like OFWAT (oftwat?) who want to deregulate water suppliers - projected savings per customer ........ £8 on an average UK water bill of £400+...... it will cost millions & millions to set up - all for a saving on £8?????
Who the hell in reality is going to through the hassle of switching water suppliers to save £8 - or less than 2% of their bill? - they cant get enough people to switch energy that would save them hundreds!
Fcucking crazy....

Switch energy? I looked into it recently on receipt of my latest annual statement.
The site said I could save over £300 pa by switching and gave me what my new monthly DD would be. It was £7 MORE than what I was already paying.....

Old people who don't have a computer and no family to help them. And people away from home who don't carry a tablet around or own a smart phone.
And folk who think 118 is a service that will help them not knowing they will be ripped off.
