Mobile costs in UK VS OZ
Just back from a break over christmas in OZ.
Cue the "ring me" when you get there messages and texts !!
Apart from OZ having a bizzare dialling sytem where you need to add
codes to the ++44 UK prefix just to make a call at £1 per minute!, I looked
at a cheap pay as you go sim
Picked up a basic starter Telstra Sim
(Telstra is one of there big operators)
£10Ausd (about £6) which gave me about 100 mins & texts
Realising this may not be enough, i popped into one of there shops, and had a chat.
What a difference, talk about helpful
5 mins later... topped up £40Ausd (£24)
What did this give me
Unlimited calls in OZ
Unlimited texts in OZ
Unlimited calls to the UK!
3 GB of day data
3GB of night data
30 day rolling top up
& £10Ausd credit for international calls not covered by the plan
No matter what we tried, we struggled to use the data lol .
Used the Maps function, always on data, updates etc..
Called the UK all over xmas and new year.
Just looked at what we get back here...
same price point, limited minutes & texts all the other bits hidden away
with add ons and extras... no where near in terms of minutes or data!!
