I went to a newish bar in Windsor recently. When i asked for a vodka and diet coke, i thought it was a bit strong, and so asked and they said "its a double, all our spirits are served as doubles, and are singles if you ask". I didnt see a sign anywhere saying this.

I only had a few mouthfuls, but what if I had ordered a vodka and diet coke, and then intended to drive as i would have been within the legal limit ? I would have been over as i would have had a double, but possibly would never have known.

Is that Browns in windsor? if not you should say where so people are aware. That sounds a bit strange to me, you would have thought that they would have to tell you that?

Think some chains serve doubles by default - AFAIR All Bar One serves doubles (or it might have been Pitcher & Piano?) - hey it was a heavy night!

Can't remember seeing any notice either, but then again I don't remember how I got home either (think it was the Beer Scooter )!

Wink

I know the local pubs around my way (Yate and Chipping Sodbury) have gone from a 25 CC measure to a 35 CC measure and hence the price increase. Not sure why they have done this, but they have!!

paulpalmer - yeah it is Browns by the river. I had an argument with the bar staff about it !!

and i suppose you would notice the extra price, but at Browns they give away home remortgage forms at the door as you go in anyway
