Hotpoint still saying they are safe as long as it's attended.
This is the latest bollocks I got from them.

Overdue
We're sorry we missed the date we originally estimated for your free of charge modification. We're working tirelessly to shorten the length of time it will take us to complete the modification programme, and we will re-arrange your appointment as quickly as we can.

We did have one that was about 12 years old,we got in touch with hotpoint who told us there was a massive wait for the modification, offered us a brand new replacement for £29,so we took our old one to comet and exchanged it for a new condenser dryer
Mine's in an unattended outside shed but not on the dodgy list thank goodness. But I did hear of a friend's pal whose £600k house was burnt down when their dishwasher caught fire. Lady was out for a short time and hubby overseas and no kids but what the hell

Yeah I had one and must've got the letter months and months before they actually came out. Done the repair and never had an issue if I'm honest.

You should NEVER leave ANY tumble dryer running unsupervised i.e out of the house, or when asleep.
It's simple: red hot heater element+fluff+air=fire. All dryers can suffer this.
The creda/hotpoint's design fault is the filter and leaky internal exhaust ducting..I used to have one; its a flimsy piece of plastic that splits after a while so doesn't filter properly, so fluff bypasses the filter, and gets recirculated back to the inlet by the leaky exhaust ducting, which then builds up on the heater element. Fire then ensues unless the dryer is disassembled and cleaned out with a vacuum cleaner.
Condenser dryers are even worse as they recirculate the internal air and si must have perfect filtration to prevent fluff getting on the heater element. So if the filter is worn, damaged or doesn't fit right, stop using the dryer until it's replaced.
This is why I service my dryers- regardless of make. To ensure the heater element is free of fluff.
I had a NEFF condenser dryer nearly go up in flames, I've never trusted a dryer since...I now have a Miele automatic dryer (second hand, also cleaned out by myself) thats kept in the garage...separated from the rest of the house by a fire door.

I did a home repair on our old condensing dryer - I changed the inline thermostat (went on to work for another 8 odd years, although we really try and not to use it)
and they are basically electrical bar heaters of old - in a big white box
very dangerous
and the tower block in the OP was part of my childhood - less that 400 metres from my parents house

There's a decent selection of dryers available now in grey and black too. The stock gets refreshed at 11am every day so keep checking. That's what I was told to do and the one I wanted was back in stock again within 2 days.
and all advice will be appreciated
I just bought a new one from them, I got mine second hand for £50, it was affected by the recall which kept on getting pushed back, £99 later and I got a new one that currys are selling for £350
Nope it specifically said on the email they sent only white available for exchange no black or grey otherwise I would have defo gone for a replacement unit indeed if there is a way to get a replacement in grey please let me know how and I'll get one

I got a grey one from them, turns out it's now reduced. I know they kept changing which ones were on offer to buy in replacement and added a new site for buying also which you could only get on while you were waiting
