Just seen this on the news. I'm quite surprised tbh... People who don't watch live TV and only watch programs on catch up services like IPlayer now have to pay the fee like the rest of us .

Obviously they won't be able to enforce it currently, but now it's in place expect a login ala Netflix within a year. Good. The fee is 40p a day and for that we get to watch world leading television without advertising.

Just how will people afford this?

They pay £70+ a month to watch a load of Sh!te on Sky. This is just a kick in the teeth for the poor souls.

When you pay the TV fee online you have to give an email address so I suppose they could implement an email registration log-in for IPlayer which will check to see if you've got the license or not. (The same email address that you used when you bought the license.

. The BBC is ran like council businesses where people in old school jobs get well paid with big expense accounts because its a government run company.

Although I like the idea of no adds there are plenty of ways to watch your programs
I pay £145 lump a year I think and I would rather spend the money towards sky and have all BBC channels blocked as I never watch them. I tend to watch more American tv . There are plenty of ways in which to watch tv with no adds instead of forcing a tax on us. The BBC should be made to look after itself instead of the country looking after the BBC.

If your device you watch iPlayer is battery powered whilst watching BBC iPlayer. There is an exception to buying the license.

The BBC has already said it won't be monitoring private networks, so I really can't see what all the hoo-ha is about.

The laughable thing is the proper tv license can't be enforce never mind trying to charge people for iplayer.

If the TV license turns up at your door and accuses you of watching tv without a license there is nothing they can do if you don't have one. Your tv can be booming in the background and all you have yo say is you don't have a tv.

They have no power to enter your house and even if the police were with them they still have no power as you need a court order so unless you admit to not having a license they can't do poo.

I have a license as I can't be bothered with the crap but it really is uninforcable. I went to court when I was 20 for not having a tv license and got off with it as I had a tv in for repair.

The sooner the tv tax is scrapped the better, and don't give me no adds crap as ITV, channel 4 and channel 5 still do well so does sky and sky takes the pee with adds

Sorry, but the most annoying thing about ITV, Channel 4/5 etc, is the annoying adverts. I rarely watching anything on those channels as it's being broadcast, as the adverts do my head in. 5 minutes into a film, and the break for a 5 min ad break So I generally end up recording said programmes on my Humax, then I can zap the adverts.

Plus how annoying is ITV with football, then ad breaks are every 5 mins before, Half times, and afterwards? Then there's the Boxing !!!! An ad at the end of every round

Plus, the Licence fee covers soo much more than BBC 1 and 2.

Most adverts on telly now are soo fecking annoying. Most annoying (in no particular order) are those sh!te and unfunny Tesco adverts, Sainsbury's Guy Martin adverts, and that advert where they explain that when a woman laughs or sneezes, they practically p!ss themselves. So buy this pad that'll turn you p!ss to jelly, so you can walk (Squelch) around all day with knickers filled with p!ss soaked jelly.

Good thing about the bbc and Sky is that when you watch a film they don't put adverts in them...even the major mini th series you see on the bbc don't have adverts which is great
