Default Ebay scamming

So this guy was selling electrical gear at below market price. I took a punt on the off chance and paid via pay-pal on my credit card.

Turns out to be a scam (no shock there).

What does he have to gain?

PayPal sit on the cash for a while or will claw it back from the seller.

The buyer can claim back via Pay-pal and/or credit card companies will claw back the money.

How does the con man actually make good money out of this?

Can the hacker syphon the money into another account and the credit card company make the loss as they have to refund the buyer?

they hang on to it if you are a new seller (or with little feedback) -- could be different with an established seller?

(link works here..)

======

Just noticed he is no longer a registered user, so maybe a scammer after all...

You can now transfer funds out of your PayPal account to your bank account in minutes...so by the time a dispute has been raised there is no cash in the PayPal account t that they have frozen, then they have to chase and find the bank account to claim it back but the seller has long gone with the cash
