Default How you rate new top gear

Just wondered what the overall view was, so starting a poll seem to be the way.

To be honest it was ok, Matt's Americanisms drove me mad, its an English produced series so speak the language. Plus the set now looks like the American Top gear set, prefer the Uk set.

I have just voted for the 'hate it' option, but i think that's a little strong.
I enjoy the programme, but i can't stand the ginger shouty guy.
Matt LeBlanc is a lot better than I thought he might be, and if he had the lead role I think the programme would benefit considerably.

It's okay, Matt doesn't seem too bad either. But probably not as good as the old one but I suppose that was the characters.

I think it's virtually the same as the old top gear except the new hosts are just copying Clarksons format. Since it's not their format they will struggle to keep the show as the last three were just having a laugh .

My wife hit the nail on the head "I'm not in to cars but use to watch it for the Banter"
Not going to be the same without the old boys I guess but I will give it a chance

It was a good episode apart from the interview the two idiots part.

That was the weak point of the original series and somehow they have managed to make it worse.

I was never a big fan of the show before, as it was a car show designed to entertain as many people as possible. So it wasn't really a car show.
Now it's fairly similar but with different presenters. Who just don't have the comfortable familiarity the last lot had. It is just desperate, trying a bit too hard. And Chris Evan's dress sense and ginger hair just irritate me a bit too much. He can't help being ginger, but somebody should do something about his wardrobe.

To me it was like a episode of 5th gear but with a bigger budget and a studio audience.

Would like a spin in Ken Blocks "Hoonicorn" though. 845bhp AWD normally aspirated V8....the throttle response on that must be neck breaking

It must be out of this world. I noticed it didn't have a lot of his driving and nothing about yhe car though. Which for a car show is disappointing....

Chris Harris and the coloured guy were good. Sabine was actually okay too.

Again Chris Evans ruined it though. I actually think without him and a bit more about the cars it wouldn't be half bad.

Yeah, I think they've got it backwards. I had no interest with RS vs AMG vs Civic segment...its already been done by every mag and website (including SN ) since last year and if even it wasn't you could guess the results anyway from the specs. And if you were looking to buy one of these what are you going to do...buy one based on a Top Gear review...or just go to a main dealer and take for a spin yourself?

Meanwhile I'm left googling to find out what the hell is under the bonnet of that mustang....it shifted, but clearly only had ITBs on the intake, so no turbo, no supercharger....

Turns out it's a Roush NASCAR engine, based on a 1970's engine Ford Windor block..16valves and pushrods....yet there it is screaming past 8000 (redline is about 9200rpm depending on if it has solid or roller lifters) and pushing out well over 800bhp which is astonishing compared to a modrn engine which has to have multiple cams, twice as many valves which variable lift/timing and forced induction to get near that power etc. What's more you can buy one ready to run off the shelf...I wish you could do that with a forged Scooby engine (would make make life easier every time they go pop ).

What it needed was the stig to whizz it round the old TG track....just to see. How it compares to a supercar.

And finally why does THE BBC keep promoting that God Awful ear-assaultingly terrible singer Tom Odell?

Its bad enough with him on constant repeat on BBC radio, now they are plugging him on Top Gear? Shameful.

I have no idea who Tom odell is or half the guests they have on.
I think it's pretty good and better than old top gear.
I like matt he's quite funny although I thought I wouldn't.
Chris Harris and the other guy are good too.
It's just Evans who is a bit marmite I don't mind him but his shouting is annoying.
It has some variety with the different presenters.
Old top gear was
Stupid challenge
Same old contrived gags usually about Clarkson being useless at anything mechanical,The other two breaking someone's air con etc.....utter crap.

thought it was better than the 1st episode (couldn't bring myself to watch the 2nd one).

They're starting to get the balance between the presenters right now (imho)

I am liking it.

The introduction of Rory Reid and Chris Harris to the main show was a real bonus. The EG episodes have been quite entertaining in a different way to the main TG.

As I have said before the original "Clarkson era" TG never had the M,H,C as presenters with the BBC looking to cancel after series three but it then took off.

The King is dead, long live the King.
