Give guns/weapons to a very weak government in a fractured country on the borders of Europe. I can foresee a proportion of those armaments coming right back in the wrong hnds

 

I wouldn't call you cynical at all. This isn't the first time this has happened in the past, albeit behind closed doors. Most of the weapons in the hands of people we've been fighting in the last 15 years has come from some form of this from countries around the world. We simply never learn.

 

Agreed, those making up our foreign policy have the shortest term view of any politicians, it seems.

 

Politics is a dirty game. Why what's done, we never fully know. We can guess, but we don't always know why. That's why I do not essentially rubbish the conspiracy theorists. Some of very intelligent and mentally healthy people I know are into them, although they do not believe in anything blindly; may it be a conspiracy theory or a backed up (from academic or on line data or media feed source) 'fact'. You have to be too naïve or simple to take anything fed to you on its face value.
