Sold my Zerosports boot spoiler and posted using Parcelforce. I packaged it very well, thick cardboard and several layers of bubble wrap, with fragile signed tape all over it. Got a message from the buyer saying it had arrived damaged along with a couple of photo,s. I would recommend people not to even think about using Parcelforce. Will get photos up soon. Steve.

 

We'll I've just sent a exhaust though parcel force, so we will see how it arrives.

Sent loads of stuff with them never had any problems.

 

Sent 100's of items through the years including a framed picture with glass. It really is down to how you package the goods.

 

I take great care in the way I package and have used lots of couriers before with no probs, so dont try to tell me how to pack.When I get the photos up you,ll see the damage. Packing the spoiler in a steel box may have saved it.

 

Do you have pictures of damaged spoiler? Is it carbon fibre?

 

Spoiler is ABS plastic which is very durable. I,d love to know how they managed to do this kind of damage. In fact I wouldn,t call it damage, more destruction. Just fit for the bin now. Photos of damage

 

Looks pretty wrecked. How much packaging was around it?

 

Was is suitably insured, i.e. against the cost of replacement?
If so there should be no loss, apart from the obvious annoyance and inconvenience.
If it wasn't then you only have your self to blame unfortunately.

 

Packaging was,
1st Wrapped allover with cardboard.
2nd Wrapped all over with stiff corrugated cardboard,
3rd Extremities wrapped again with corrugated cardboard,
4th 3 layers of bubblewrap with extra on extremities,
5th Fragile tape all over.

Post offices, tried 3, would not take because of size, was advised by them to get Parcel force to collect, which they did. Paid £31 which included 10% discount using code. Only when I told them of damage was told car parts are not insured! I go over the top when packaging car parts and have had no problems before. This is the first and last time I will use Parcelforce. Looking at the damage maybe packing the spoiler in a steel crate would have saved it. Steve.

Looks like crush damage.

I appreciate its too late now, but if you're sending stuff like that again I'd pack the gap between the elements rather than just wrapping the outside.

Just get a courier that insurances car parts

Personally it should of been in a big box like what they come in new as they are a very durable card board and then package it like you did. Tbf a rear spoiler is not something I'd personally recommend sending via any courier, just like doors and bonnets. Your asking for trouble.

Still relevant in many ways though. I work in parcel logistics and it never ceases to amaze me what people will try and send via courier, use the barest amount of packaging then scream/shout when it arrives broken/damaged and claim insurance. Recently seen a 16" square box (as you might get for a toaster/kitchen implement) that someone had literally just filled with china crockery, taped it shut and stuck a label on it. HTF they expected that to arrive un-broken was beyond me & needless to say, when I saw it, the crunch of broken plates was clearly audible Regularly bumpers in just black plastic bags, tyres with a label & alloys on their own.

Carriers, including Royal Mail/Parcel Force/Hermes/UKMail/UPS/DPD & whoever else work on a hub & spoke system where there may be 8 or more different people lifting that one consignment, which is one of possibly thousands that night. With the best will in the world they haven't the time to take as much care as the sender might wish them to and then you add automated machines to which the concept of right way up is unknown.

It just amazes me that the carriers do as well as they do when faced with the complacency of the general public with what the danger might be to their items when not packaged either correctly or well. No disrespect to OP as sometimes sh*t does happen and that is unfortunate.

FWIW there are no carriers out there who in the handling department are any worse than any other really. Losing things and being late are another matter...
