UFC: Mendes or McGregor?
Anyone on here a UFC fan? If so, who do you think will win the main event tonight? I'm going for Mendes. I can't believe he's the betting underdog. McGregor's got good stand-up, but that's all he's demonstrated thus far. He's never faced a top-level fighter, and all his opponents have been hand-picked by the UFC to suit his style and allow him to shine. I think he's going to get exposed tonight.

I think McGregor will win
He has fought top 10 fighters or are they not top level?
I would love to see him with Aldo, but he pussied out. Doctors said he was fit to fight 2 weeks ago, he never even broke a rib
Mendes has got a good wrestling base, but I can't see him getting Conor down

Poirier is a decent fighter, and Holloway has skills, but neither was ranked top 5 when McGregor fought them. I guess by 'top fighter', I mean Aldo, Mendes, Edgar, or even Bermudez or Lamas.
Regarding Aldo, I don't think the UFC ever said for sure whether the rib was bruised or broken. I do think McGregor got inside Aldo's head on the world tour, and that McGregor would have had a better chance of beating Aldo than beating Mendes, as the fight with Aldo would've been a stand-up war. I imagine Aldo would hate to lose to McGregor of all people, so pulled out as he was not prepared to risk losing with an injury. I'm sure they will fight one day soon, though.
Regarding Mendes getting McGregor down, McGregor will do very well to stop his takedown attempts. If he can keep it standing, he's got a good chance.
I still think Mendes takes it, one way or the other. Can't wait!

I think the prelims are on now. The main card will start in the early hours (2am ish) and the main event will start around 4am. I always Sky+ and watch the next day, so I can skip through all the adverts. I just make sure I don't use the internet, speak to any mates, or read any text messages before I've watched it, so I don't find out what happened.

The whole card is good. Lawler vs MacDonald should be a great fight, and Matt Brown vs Tim Means is going to be incredible. I think Gunny has his work cut out with big Brandon Thatch, unless he gets him to the ground, then he could easily choke him out.
Right, I'm going for:
Mendes
MacDonald
Brown
Bermudez
Swick
And don't even think about posting the results ... not that I'll be checking snet until I've watched it!

Mendes was knackered after the first round. Can't believe all the eye pokes he got away with.
Mendes best chance was on the floor but when he was on top he looked like he was just having a rest and trying to recover. He didn't try for side control or take advantage of being on top.
The result wasn't a surprise
