Today's footage of the chaos in Calais with people trying to break into moving trucks makes you wonder where the local Gendarmerie were considering we allegedly give the Frenchies a nice financial contribution to deal with this...

This is getting very serious...I was there a few weeks back and the place is literally invaded, I mean it was bad last year, but its ten times worse now.
At 8:00am they were hundreds upon hundreds all camped out on the car park at Leader Price (hypermarket located just outside of Coquelles...near the tunnel), scary stuff when driving a car with UK plates - hence me not stopping to take a picture - the car could get mobbed!
Thing is, unlike other parts of Europe, this lot ALL want to go to the UK.
IMO its time the army were drafted in, if not just to stop them getting on vehicles.

I usually use Dunkirk, and there have been times when the place was snided out with them, more recently not seen many at all, but not been by there for a few months, seems to me like they are less tolerant of them around Dunkirk, which may be due to the fact that most head to Calias.

Some of the freight is now being sent to Dunkirk, but obviously it's costing more in time and money.just a few days ago a truck was ambushed in Spain by immigrants.threatened the driver to keep quiet or would stab him.Once they had climbed in the trailer the driver turned around and headed back to where he just picked up his load(bread) it's now costing companies thousands of pounds in lost produce.Getting beyond normal now, most don't want go Calais and if ask to go from another port crossing it's usually a no but of loss of money and extra time it takes to deliver the freight.

And they withdraw the rights to citizenship if they go and fight for ISIS etc

Why can't we adopt the ideas set up by our colonial territories?

Like the Aussies pay the boat captains not to drop refugees off near the North Coast of Australia. They even get Papua New Guinea to build camps to house them.
And guess what?

This is the bit I don't understand.
France is blaming us for not doing enough on French soil to discourage these migrants. They are illegal immigrants in France.
Why aren't the French authorities doing more to stop the migrants entering France in the first place?
Is it as simple as that or have I really missed something?

It makes you wonder how they all get to Calais in the first place, I mean France is over 1000 miles long and if they are all coming from the Med coast then how are they getting to Calais.
France has 3000 illegals all in the same place and still can't deal with them. Watching the news last night the French police were taking them off the trucks and just letting them go so they could then find another truck. It is crazy.

Second, France gives them nothing...no money, no homes, no medical care, nothing. So why do they care? 99.99% of France has zero contact with them, only the area round Calais.
Are the French who live there fed up? You bet!! But does Paris care? Nope.

I HAVE been in an attempted stop when towing a box trailer though. Just kept going and even veered towards them a bit...those guys can jump when they have to!

One of my Brother's is as liberal as they come, but he was in Calais the other day and even he said that he would worry if some of these people got over here. The casual way some of them used violence and intimidation against male and female truck drivers was rather disturbing he said.

Worryingly, I agree. Why are they seemingly doing very little about it? It's not like the issue of illegal migrants in and around Calais (etc) is a new one.
I can't help but feel that 'nearly zero' is a statistical fudge. There are clearly still vast numbers trying to get to Australia but the government policy of paying off smugglers means they don't get close.

As for the French it's never their fault always someone else to blame, probably cheesed off as it was the 200 year anniversary of Waterloo recently
