Think the main reason for this is to prevent any insurance fraud where people aren't declaring points. Good move really.

Been a LONG time coming.

Why couldn't the card part have had a magnetic strip?

Should save a few quid too, the cost of printing and sending them back and forth must be huge, let's hope they put the funds saved towards something useful but I won't hold my breath.

I bet that's going to be a lot of people in the preverbial when they haven't sent their licence into the insurance company to prove points or have photocopied their licence when clean! There's a few void insurance policies for sure.

Does the £6 reduction in the cost of photo-card renewals announced around the same time count?

Because magnectic strips are as outdated as the the paper licence; Magnetic strips are 1970's technology (1969 to be precise).

Just an ID number and internet access is all thats required now. No need for card readers or any other needless crap.

You don't stop when they wave their ping pong bat at you last time they tried that on me I just stayed in the outside lane and looked the other way like I was looking for something.
