Advice:-

I've sold an item on eBay. The auction description clearly dictates no international purchasers.
An international purchaser has won the item.

I've requested a cancellation, but no joy from the buyer yet. Buyer has not paid.

In the meantime, I've 2nd-chance offered the item, and in discussion, they're happy to buy it.

Do I have to wait until the purchase has been cancelled, or can I just sell it to the 2nd chancer?

Kinda narc'd as the buyer just didn't read the description. They sniped the auction, so I had no chance to decline their bid either.

Fk em mate , end of the day they can only go cry to eBay then all you need to do is tell eBay to read your description
Send the overseas winner a message saying you have sold it to the previous bidder due to your description

 

You need to set up your seller settings so international
buyers don't see it therefore can't bid on it.

For the sale to be cancelled the buyer needs to agree otherwise
you will still be charged the final value fee.

 

Cancel the transaction, but as said the buyer needs to agree or you have to wait for a while for the buyer not to reply then ebay will cancel it anyway.

I did actually set the auction as uk-only which is why it's bizarre. Just a bit of a ball ache tbh.

Trying to sort it now - I think the "winner" is sulking as they're not going to win the item. PLaying hardball. Will see how it plays out.

 

Why cant you send it international?

 

TBH, don't want the grief of international carriage. Not bothered about the buyers. Just extends the whole process waiting for it to be delivered.

Personal preference.

FFS. The 2nd chance seller is happy to deal though, so it's not all bad.

 

Sell to the international bidder and add £20 to the postage for their stupidity.

Makes perfect sense.
Had you selected "no international postage" in the listing rather than in the description you wouldn't have this problem. Unfortunately the international bidder can leave negative feedback if you don't complete. Your call really. As a seller you may only leave positive feedback.

 

Fair enough. I'll take the hit on negative feedback if necessary. I've done everything up to this point to the best of my ability. If there's an error in what button I pressed, so be it. It's not like I didn't state in the actual item description. Also if there was confusion about the postage options, all the winner had to do was ASK.
Personally, I think I've got a pretty strong case for it being resolved in my favour. We'll see. Regardless, I've got a buyer lined up anyway. (And for less money, so that isn't the driving factor here)
