Default Cuba back in from the cold.

After fifty years of hostility, acrimony and division Cuba and US restore ties.

Fairly sure this is part of a wider picture involving russia tbh - ie toe the line and sanctions can be lifted very fast - its a carrot and stick message regarding ukraine

Shame in a selfish way on my own parts, as its the only country in the world that I can go to visit and not have to see a McDonald's on every street corner.

The Cuban public may be rubbing their hands with glee in anticipation of the burger joints and Starbucks, but Cuba will lose the quaintness and charm it had for so long.

Cuba has a better (lower) infant mortality rate and a higher life expectancy than America, and some European countries

And they do get to drive round in cool 1950's cars

So not all bad

YES! - My intial reaction to hearing this news was: "That's Cuba fcucked now then....."

I can just imagine all the property developers and 'corporates' physically slathering at the thought of an untapped island business, with huge tourism....

It will be like Waikiki or Cancun in 10 years time I bet.... which is a shame.

And they eliminated TB. my erstwhile boss used to holiday there several times a year. Being cocooned from the outside world it had an incredible uniqueness and way of life, he'd tell me.

Exactly what I thought, It will end up like Cancun, I do like Cancun, but its more like America then Mexico!!

But ive expected Cuba and the US to restore ties eventually, Just need to get that one more holiday in, before it turns into the United States of Cuba!!!
