Ebola world domination
Thoughts on this
Blood born pathogen, 1 infected person carries enough particles to infect the world ,virus can stay alive on a surface for a long time .incubation can take 3 weeks , quarantine will soon be controlled by military if the Spanish outbreak spreads , airports shut down ? Defcon 4

Ebola isn't 100% lethal, a person in good health should recover from it. roughly just below 50% survival rate supposedly, but it tends to pop up in poorer areas where health levels are lower.

That 50% will have massive scarring, permanently damaged internal organs and be a constant drain on health resources until they finally die though tidgy.
Surely it would be far better to treat all infected people, regardless of origin, in situ

from what I understand that only tends to happen if they don't get prompt treatment, which is typical for 3rd world country's where the outbreaks have been happening.

I think Sierra Leone and Liberia could be in real trouble if they can't get a handle on it very, very soon. There simply won't be enough trained folk left to control it.
Europe should be OK with stringent checks but there is always a backdoor entry into Europe without controls?

PS. What is Defcon 4??

They've just announced on there that Ebola could very well be in Britain by 20th November.

Agreed, the fact the Americans shipped someone who was infected back to the states strikes me as complete madness. If they wanted to test some new medication then you'd have thought the doctors would have gone to him. Given how infectious ebola is, giving it a plane ticket across the atlantic is just daft.

Well I am pleased that UK is doing a decent job by helping with 750 army guys to construct some facilities. Won't be anything like enough but might spur some other countries into action. And Obama may act big time as well.
Bet there is going to be tight discipline for our guys with no sneaking out to Freetown to buy a girl a drink
Seems a much better use of resources to me helping this way rather than sending a couple of Tornados into Iraq and using expensive ordnance to destroy an ISIS truck and a few innocent civilians.

I think what is puzzling some health professionals, is that in previous outbreaks the spread of the virus has been contained by the success of the disease - in that the fatality rates are so high (in poorly resourced African countries)
the virus becomes a victim of its own success in killing its host relatively quickly
