Ive just had something shipped from the US to the UK, it wasn't an expensive item at $59.99 + $40.00 shipping which comes to $99.00 in total which is what i had to pay to get it shipped here.
This is the bit that that is comical, ive no probs getting charged custom fees on the value of the goods as that's what importing something entails, the bit they shouldn't be able to get away with is charging you fees (VAT) on the shipping as thats's a service. You then have parcelforce weighing in with an £8 charge which is called a handling fee which is on top of you already paying $40.00 to get it shipped to your door in the first place.
You then have ebay who are not only taking 10% in final value fees for an item you sell, they are now also taking 10% of the postage that someone has paid you to ship it lol ....
Does nobody regulate these people ?

Avoid DHL as i bought a something from china and didn't get charged any customs fees, so bought a few money things from the company bout £500 worth, and got a nasty custom charge 9 months later. Other companies bill you when item arrives at your door so you can refuse goods

I bought some carbon fiber stuff for my bike.
What I found it hard to believe was it was free shipping, It was posted with USPS with a declared value of 25 dollars (which I didn't ask them to do) and was then finally delivered by royal mail
I couldn't believe it all, Free delivery, and no customs charged and was on my bike less than a week after being ordered.
A few years ago I bought a Muzzy s Alu fan for my GPz and that was posted UPS and was stung with charges which equaled the price and postage of the item.
Its just your Donald Duck

Think about it, if it wasn't..... buy this engine for $1 with $4999 shipping.
It's kind of obvious really!
