I've been watching this and find it quite enjoyable as always. I must be a sheep, gullible and an idiot for watching it though?

I'm neither a sheep nor gullible and an idiot. But I watched it to ease my mind. I felt emotional when that youth worker sang her song for her little sister. It doesn't mean I'm gullible. I liked the singing of the van driver as well.

I pity people who have nothing better to do than watch garbage like that.

What makes you think that the people that watch 'garbage' like that have 'nothing better to do'?

I was listening to it whilst eating curry, drinking beer, posting on S'net, avoiding the missus and reading Louis Berkhof's Systematic Theology.

I wasn't multi-tasking myself. My feet were hurting so much that I needed to rest them, so I just switched the telly on and watched whatever mildly amusing and off-the-usual-mark. It wasn't something super-absorbing, mind. My mind was constantly active with thinking about important things in life. Usually I'd exercise while the TV is on. That's if I have time to do any of that. But honestly, my feet and legs were in agony last night. XFactor amused me a bit, so I have no complaints with it.

There were some excellent auditions, particularly the girl who did that song about her sister.

It's only entertaining when it goes through the first rounds of the comically bad auditions. After that it's boring.

Hard to know if anyone is really any good especially toward the latter stages as don't they use autocorrection?

Did tune in to Xtra factor but purely because my mates sister is now hosting it and we do like to wind him up wherever she is concerned

Well, the last Welsh one was obviously good tonight. That girl with piercings must have been feeling a little bit funny inside, as she was just so meek and muted! Judges wouldn't dare let her hit "I hope you don't mind..." Because they dreaded she'd mess it up and then the audience would mind. The Italian and Overload were good as well.

I thought it was good tonight.

I struggle to watch this nowadays. I can't see past certain things. As entertaining as it sometimes is, once the crowd start laughing or cheering I notice the people sitting directly behind the judges aren't moving at all. The laughter/cheering is edited in later at moments the directors think would dramatise the show. It's all close up shots on one or two people.
It also strikes me odd for what is essentially a show of people singing well known hits, the crowd are never seen mouthing the words.

Canned laughter was a thing of the 70's/80's. Somehow this feels even cheaper than that.
