Question Bathstore?

Wife wants a new toilet, back to wall and some built-in type cabinets round it.

She has found what looks like a decent deal at Bathstore.

BUT........

I'm hearing a LOT of negative comments about poor customer service, poor spare part availability, fiddly/difficult fitting etc.

Anyone dealt with them, and how would you rate them?

Re: Spares I don't its Bathstore that are at totally fault here, but the fact that most "fancy" bogs are made in Europe by a plethora of differing manufacturers, who don't always stock or supply parts.

The result being that finding a replacment bog seats can be nightmare. The same can be said for B&Q and Wickes bogs that are of non-standard styles too.

The internal fittings can also be an issues as most are dual flush and sometimes the cisterns have odd placements of the internal fitments so off the shelf stuff doesn't always work or fit.

That said one could say the same with a British made bog from the 1980's (or older)...Balterley double trap syphonic flush air extractor unit in imperial pipe fitment and short thread syphon....anyone? Thought not?

Just revamping our bathroom, had a good look around, Doni,Waki and found that Bathstore were a tad more expensive for the same items elsewhere. Ended up buying from Barnes on Ings Road in Waki.

Sadly, living in Scunny, which is NOT centre of any known universe, our B&Q, Homebase etc are small and don't show anywhere near the full range.

I'm TRYING to buy local........

Local guy quoted us £800.......OK, REALLY nice furniture, but......

Waiting on another local quote and also for Jody, the (delicious) lass at one of the builders' merchants to get back off holiday.

Plumbcentre? Plumbase?

Some plumbcentres City plumbings have a showroom, if not you'll have to buy out the brochure.

Edit; Sorry I keep getting them mixed up....I usually like to use City Plumbing

Whichever one it is, I can guarantee you they WON'T have a showroom in Scunny.
Which means going to Doncaster, Lincoln, Grimsby etc to look at stuff, which is what I'm trying to avoid...I know it's only 25-30 miles, but again, it's the principle.

So far Bathstore are winning. They are £140 LESS than the second cheapest, and the local independents are at £800 and £900, with the plumbers' merchants at ££945 so far and another to see.

Even Homebase came out at £795 with NO choice of toilet and SILLY unit prices....I think I've dropped into the middle of the month everything is full price to base their "50%" off on. Shan't be calling on THEM then. And again...nothing on show.

I used them once and never again, got a bath and it came with none of the parts, it was supposed to have a push in plug mechanism and the shop denied it and said I had to pay 30 odd quid for a bath plug. Also the tap I got leaked etc. Robbing scumbags in my opinion.
