Although I'm not really a blues afficionado, sadly he has just died and he was undoubtedly one of the greats:

Saw him in Birmingham circa 1971/2, Johnny Winter And.....

He had a second guitarist that could have played for any group, Rick Derringer.

An awesome sound, Johnny RIP.
