Question

Someone told me ages ago that this was really bad for you and that the hydrogenation stage (pass the oil through hydrogen at 300 or higher degrees) to make it a fat rather than oil, changed the molecular structure to one that the body cannot break down.

It is in almost everything food wise that comes in a packet (bread, biscuits, chocolate bars, cakes etc)

I have done some research on the net and can confirm that it is not good for you and is a high concentration of fatty acids and worse for you than animal fat with regard to colesteral and heart attack etc.. but no mention of the molecular structure stopping the body break it down.

Discuss??

Cheers

Yep, it's bad for you. I believe it might even be carcinogenic. That's why I like butter so much.
