Wow that's actually quite something to watch. I think because the dog was shaking so viciously it was enough to trigger the cat. I'm not sure.... I didn't think cats could 'detect' things like that? I don't know what I'm talking about or what I'm trying to say really....
I'm sure Swati and thenewgalaxy will be along to give us a full analysis.

Come on, let's not get all negative for a change.
Yes, Awesome vid.
LSherratt, you should actually become the next Inspector Frost. Your guess is pretty good, but it's not to say that it's correct.
Cats are very protective of kids. My daughter's cat won't let me touch anything in her room in her absence. When I try to fiddle with her jewellery and stuff, I get a paw and a meeyyaow with 4 scratches on my arms. About my B&W cat, I've never been in any situation where he had to save me from any harm as such, but as soon as he hears my car from the main road (about 100 yards from my house), he comes running from the tree across the road to welcome me. He also sleeps on my head when I'm a bit tense, or if I have headache. Very caring they are.

This is it. I think that he runs from across the road. He could be running towards me from the farm that is a mile away from me, for what I know. He does go there to hunt mice, I know.
Cats are very smart animals. Mine are very cuddly as well. Even my daughter's cat is now better with me since I cared for her after her accident last year. She developed PTSD since we added B&W fat cat to her territory. As I paid ample attention to B&W, she started to hate me. But now she's better with me. Still very protective my daughter's room, though.

That cat may be that child's best friend, so she kicked that dog's @rse for harassing him.

Yeah, that's also possible. Cats are territorial. But I think that cat could have been genuinely protecting the child. I have always noticed that my cats are more friendly to the children. My children are adults now, but both of my cats play more with them than they ever would; with me.

Funny enough so are my mums, they are almost placid around children.

Love it, love how the kid tries to check the cat straight away.
Bad injuries to his leg, cat may just have saved the leg.

Thank god the lad didn't own a 30lb Maine Coon or Bobcat, the dog would have lost a leg! ...and the cat hating internet would be up in arms!!!

She probably trusts how vicious her cat is whilst she phones the law. Cats can be very aggressive about their territory, they will chase bigger foxes, dogs and even bears off.
A bob cat recently ventured into a Pit bulls yard in the US and immobilised the dog, Bobcats only average 21lbs. A big cat can be a great pet, but it won't bite a burglar though.

This little cat's bravery and loyalty made to Sky news last night. I discovered that the cat is that boy's family cat, and the dad posted up the vid on internet.
What I am thinking is why the dad was busy videoing when his son was getting butchered by that dog??? Then I thought that it could be a surveillance/security camera that filmed the whole thing. Then again, it films the other side of the car as well. May be the camera moves with motion? I don't know.
It's just that if the dad was standing around filming it instead of saving his kid from that dog, then he should be the next one in the cat's scratch list. MEOW, GET SET, GO, GO, GO.... LIKE A BULLET TO GET HIM!!!!!!!

My cats is friends with no one at all, very funny with strangers although he is fine with me, wife and now just about tolerates our 18mth old daughter and dosent mind my closest visitors who he's aquanted with.
He's his own man, eats, sleeps, *****, goes out and cuddles and attention is all he requires.
Similar to cat in video.
