I am a bit surprised Cameron hasn't mobilised the troops already, maybe he is still butt hurt over his Syria warmongering failure!

Troops are probably waiting on the sideline till we make up a half decent excuse (apart from the kids) to go in guns blazing in the name of democracy.

Nigeria is a democracy. Boko Haram aren't a state, they're a hateful terrorist outfit and action against them would be and will be just.

How dare you say something sensible on SN?

But then how would certain people find a reason to just make stuff up like the possibility of Cameron getting ready to over throw the govt of Nigeria

But nobody has any intention of invading Nigeria either! There's Boko Haram, they need extirpating, and if Africa wants our help to do that then we will. It has nothing to do with oil or warmongering or wmds or anything else other than this poisonous proto-Taliban. The world needs to nip the situation in the bud.

You are mixing up so many things and extrapolating as though you are on acid. There is no reason on earth that Cameron et al would invade a democracy like Nigeria because of an extremist internal movement like BH.

You can talk about wmd etc but that does not change the context of what is happening in Nigeria. This is NOT Afghanistan or Iraq.

However if you just want to ramble and link a whole lot of things together to make up a fairy story then by all means carry on.

You can't get involved in every dispute around the world. Vietman taught us that. What about the 1129 people who died in the Bangledesh factory collapse, they made clothes for our stores, yet we do nothing. What about the projected 4000 workers who will die building stadia for the Qatar World Cup. Both things we have a direct involvement in, yet we do nothing.
As for the kids in Nigeria, all we are doing is pandering to the rebels. The Nigerian government don't care. What are we supposed to do.

Yes, good post - I said similar in a post a few years ago

It is the endless, relentless, grinding poverty coupled with a sense of powerlessness that is the problem

Made all the worse, sadly by religion, that feeds of it, uses it, nourishes itself like a plague of locust - in the misery of others

Just because we can't do everything doesn't mean we do nothing. What do we do? We assist the Africans who want to act in what ever we can. Are you suggesting that if the Nigerians and Chad and others came to us we should turn them away?

All you can do in life is look after yourself, your family, and friends. Work hard and try to live with a decent set of morals. Then, if you government is decent, hope they can help their neighbours. But the idea that you can somehow solve every problem in the world is bonkers.

When I saw Mr Hague in France yesterday I thought, "dude, wtf are you doing".

The trouble with any terrorist group is until you get them round the bargaining table, they will not stop.

The Nigerians are doing nothing. The army are refusing to enter Boko harem territory, they are scared. So what are we meant to do. If we save them, another 200 will be taken next week. It's just a tragic situation.

So I understand; is your position that we should do nothing, or just not get militarily involved?

If it's the former then I think we'll all end up going to 'hell in a handcart', if it's the latter then I'm sure you're probably right.

If the IRA had kidnapped 200 children and asked for the release of IRA prisoners in return would Nigeria be helping us out? Nope! Why not? Becuase they could not do anything we couldn't do!

So let them get on with unless we can provide wome help they can't provide themselves! I am not sure quite why we feel they need our help other than Hague's insistence and desire for us to be part of World Police!
