me 1982 and a pint off bitter was 60p i started work as a springmaker and every thursday friday lunchtime when we got our wages cash in brown evelops we went to pub happy days
I can't remember properly as I have drank cider all my life and its always more . expensive than everything with the exception of Guinness. I left school in 1981 and I'm sure a pint of Woodpecker was about 70p?
My first pint was bought around 1987 and far too long for me to remember how much it cost, besides, I was probably bricking it at the time as I was one year under age

Drinking culture has changed a lot.Our local was a very large pub with each bar sectioned off.The prices varied depending on what bar you were in, Saloon or Public. It was accepted that you could drink at 15 because that was when a lot of people started work. However, there where rules. We had too use the small, grotty end bar that the 'young 'uns' were relegated too.You could not get loud or mouthy. There was no back chatting your elders. This would result in a ban or some rough justice.Your family & people who knew your family would also drink in the same pub & bad behavior was frowned upon.Getting drunk & incapable was looked down on & considered 'un-manly'.
Seems odd now but girls didn't drink or go into the pub until they were 18 & you would never see a girl or a women drunk & falling over.
We used to drink light & bitter as the barman would usually give you more than half a pint from the tap & a half pint bottle of light ale so you ended up with more than a pint.
