Default Decent phone to use as hotspot?

Looking to buy someone a cheap (£80 ish) phone to use as hotspot.
I have a note 1 & 2 which are good for me and seen a s3 mini but the stats say 14.4mbs against my 84mbs/20mbs
Anyone got a s3 mini that they have used for youtube an the like?

Hey

Sorry but i have not used the s3 mini as a hotspot.

However i can say, I have a samsung S3. not mini. the lap top gets about 3 mbps when the speed test is done, this is quite ok for streaming.
I also have samsung gt-i5500 early hard to use "smart phone" which when i had to replace screen on me s3 also worked really well as a hotspot. im not sure what speed tho.
it might also be worth a mention that the speed will increase if you are in major town or city which i am not.
hope this helps,

I use an old galaxy s as a hotspot, but any old android phone should do. Surely if it's only going to be used as a hotspot, it would be cheaper to buy a mifi device?

Cant comment.
My sim only deal has got full data. and i had the s3 from about 3 yr ago so it does not owe me anything.
I would say its an option, does it require monthly contract?
